Athletes United for Youth develops, operates, and supports structured, affordable, and accessible after-school programs, computer learning centers, one-on-one mentoring, and substance abuse prevention and awareness programs. We at Athletes United for Youth realize that our goals are ambitious and wide-ranging. We can achieve them, though certainly not alone. We're laying the foundation and need your support to accomplish our important mission. We need you, your foresight, your volunteer manpower, and above all, your financial support.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FIERCE BASKETBALL COMPETITON?

It's almost that time of year again, when everyone is getting ready for one of Charlotte's most anticipated and prestigious holiday basketball tournaments, The 9th Annual Bojangles' High School Basketball Shootout. Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc. continues as the Title Sponsor for this awesome and highly anticipated and competitive High School Basketball Tournament.

Excitement continues to build as all of the boys and girl's teams are readying themselves for the fierce level of competition, which awaits them in Charlotte, NC. The tournament will return to the basketball friendly confines of Marvin Ridge High School & Middle School (2825 Crane Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173) on December 29 – 31, 2008. All proceeds to benefit Athletes United for Youth Educational Programs.

Each year, this spectacular high school hoops event features some of the best of the best boys and girls teams from across the nation, as well as, the local Charlotte community. In all, 24 teams will participate in what has been recognized as one of the # 1 Post-Christmas High School Basketball Tournaments in the Country. In fact, Bob Gibbons, a nationally respected recruiting analyst, has the opinion that it is the best Post-Christmas Tournament across the nation.

The tournament is always an overwhelming and awesome success and has teams playing in front of “Sold-Out” crowds each day. Last year, over 18,000 spectators were in attendance throughout the three (3) day tournament weekend.

Three (3) days of intense excitement will showcase not only the best boys and girl's teams, but also, who will be crowned the best of the best nationally. The facility is jam packed with fans in jubilant anticipation of the heightened competition. There will be pre-game, half-time and post game entertainment at a level far exceeding expectations. Endless cheering and applause fills the sold-out gymnasiums each day. Come see some of the future stars of tomorrow, where some of the past stars have included current NBA and WNBA players such as Charlotte Bobcat Raymond Felton, Portland Trailblazer LaMarcus Aldridge, Golden State Warrior Anthony Morrow, Indiana Pacer Brandon Rush, Atlanta Dream Ivory Latta, Seattle Storm Camille Little and Connecticut Sun Kerri Gardin. And don't forget about having three (3) days filled with the scent of delicious delights lingering in the air; including Bojangles' sumptuous chicken sandwiches, wings and other awesome delicacies, and so much more... Who could ask for more?
